June 11th, 2011…the National Constitution Center…Philadelphia, PA
Whitney and Jason met through mutual friends while Whitney was living in Boston. With Jason in Philadelphia their relationships was long distance for about a year until Whitney moved to Philadelphia to be with Jason. They both are passionate about history, cocktails and traveling!
On a trip back to Boston, Jason gave Whitney a series of cards that had clues on them…the last card led Whitney to the roof of her old apartment that she lived in while in Boston. It was here, on her old rooftop, that Jason proposed. He then gave her the last card that had the confirmation of their wedding date at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.
The couple married on June 11th, 2011 at the beautiful St. John Evangelist Church and had the honor of being married by the same priest that married Whitney’s Grandparents. Whitney recalls one of her favorite memories from the ceremony was listening to her cousin sing “Ave Maria” in the church.
Whitey also fondly remembers her favorite moment from their reception; when the DJ started playing “Hail to the Chief” while everyone was eating their salads and in walked George Washington! She loved how surprised Jason was!
Jason and Whitney’s wedding inspiration derived from historic Philadelphia. Their style was a mixture of classic and elegant and they chose a color scheme of black and champagne to bring this style to life.
There were lots of spectacular professionals that aided in the wedding but one stand out was definitely Todd Zimmerman of Pictures by Todd. “Todd was the first photographer we met with. We chose him because of the quality of his work and how great he was as a person. He also connected with Jason over lacrosse, so that sealed the deal” Whitney says.
In addition to great pictures, Whitney touched on the food, “the caterer came up with a fantastic menu and even came up with two signature drinks to go with our historic scene!”
Mr. and Mrs. Wolensky honeymooned in St. Lucia and are getting much use out of their favorite wedding present (luggage) while they continue to travel together!
